Sunrise to Sunset Let the Piano Play
Saturday Oct 1st 5.15am – 6.30pm all day
Let the Piano Play concert will give all those piano players a chance to be part of the fun and also instrumentalists who want to perform with David Miller, the resident pianist. Yamaha are shipping one of their fine pianos to the Mungindi Memorial Hall for this event. If you play the piano, come along and play for the most supportive audience in the whole world. If you don't play at your best the first time, come back and play again later on in the day. This event will be co-ordinated by David Miller AM, one of Australia's top pianists and Chair of Ensemble Studies at the Sydney Conservatorium. If you don't play the piano but would like David to accompany you, bring your music - David can sightread anything. This concert will be very informal with the audience coming and going but the music will start at sunrise which is about 5 15am at this time of the year in Mungindi, and not stop until sunset

Saturday Oct 1st 9.00am – 10.30am
All the performers at the Festival will march down the main street from the Memorial Hall to the Park where in the spirit of the Olympics there will be a solemn lighting of the Mungindi Festival Cauldron (44 gallon drum) and Marg Harrison, Festival President, will declare the Festival open. Saturday 1st Oct
- 10.45am (from RSL Club) - 12.30pm (estimated return), and
- 2pm (from RSL Club) - 3.30pm (estimated return)
The One Ton Post is the largest wooden survey peg in Australia - must-see for any visitor to Mungindi. The peg was cut and placed by surveyor, John Cameron on the banks of the Barwon River, 3 miles west of Mungindi on the 29th Parallel, (where the straight line of the NSW/ Qld border finishes and the wiggly line starts) - as a testament to Cameron's amazing achievement in surveying and fixing the Inter-Colonial Boundary Line at the 29th Parallel of latitude.
Thanks to the persistence, determination and amazing knowledge of the Mungindi district’s history, recently deceased Lions Club President, Bob Glass OAM has brought the story of ‘The One Ton Post’ alive. Join with Bob's brother Alf, Mungindi's very own bush poet, for an enthralling walk though Australian pioneering history, view the famous One Ton Post and be entertained by the ballads and yarns that make up our local history.
Don't miss this one!

Concerts in the CBD
Saturday Oct 1st 10.45am – 11 45am
Performances will start all around the Mungindi CBD and the audience can choose to stop off at St James Church on their way to St Josephs Church but there again what is happening in the Library just might be too good to leave. Because of the clever town planners nothing is too far apart in Mungindi.
Bus Shelter Blues
Saturday and Sunday departing on the hour
The good people of Mungindi are extremely proud of their bus shelter on the main street. From the photo you can see that this is a very superior construction and the location is perfect for all the shops. It doesn't really matter that there is no bus service in Mungindi!
We are looking for duos, trios or quartets to perform in the bus shelter during the day. If a bus does by chance stop, the Festival Committee will take full responsibility and their office is just behind the shelter. Tell the bus driver that the shelter has been seconded for the duration of the Festival and whatever happens don't get on the bus because it will take you away from all the Festival Fun.
